Medical Specialists who will Become Leaders of the Future

 Pharmacy is struggling to develop modern-day medical care and has been showing a result in developing new medicine. With special knowledge and high experience, pharmacists are tackling a lot of activities to affect people’s health. They are highly trusted by the Japanese people.
 On the medical front, preparation of drugs, instruction on the use of drugs, medication history management and collecting drug information are the daily jobs of pharmacists. In the hospital, as the members of medical teams, they go the round with nurses and give suggestions about the most optimum medication, dosage forms, direction for use or dosages to the patients. At local pharmacies they play active parts giving advices on medical care service at home or nursing care.
 Pharmacists are also employed at public health care centers and hygienic laboratories to struggle to ensure the safety of the living environment and to protect our beautiful planet. So our descendants can live in peace and without fear for living.  Pharmacists, graduates of Yokohama University of Pharmacy, should be armed with special knowledge that any other pharmacists cannot have. They are knowledge of kanpo with it they can give advice to the medical workers, knowledge they can make use of at the clinical scene, knowledge of health with it they can become specialist of pharmacy. In order to accomplish these mission we have three departments: the Department of Health Medicine, Department of Kampo Medicine, and Department of Clinical Medicine.

 

Department of Pharmacy

 These days pharmacists are expected to concentrate on the medical work. But in the field of production and development of medical supplies, health food product or cosmetics, and in the fields of environment and public health, there will be more and more needs for able persons.
Developing bio-chemical industries , the most forefront ones in Japan, need persons who have knowledge of both medical and science. And also preparing able persons who can originally contribute to people’s welfare and health is needed now.
 Graduates of Yokohama University of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy will be able to also contribute as misters to the bio-chemical industry like medicine products, chemical goods, cosmetics, and foods. And as a person with pharmacy-mind, they go post graduate to continue medical studies.
